Town skipper Jim Magilton remains a doubt ahead of Saturday's trip to Reading. The Northern Irishman is still suffering with a tight hamstring and could be replaced by the returning Ian Westlake.

Shefki Kuqi turned from villain to hero as he notched the goal that gave Town a 3-2 home win over Coventry. Kuqi's handball had given the visitors a penalty which Gary McSheffrey converted, Darren Bent's two goals either side of the break having put the Blues in front after Stern John's opener.

Two second half goals from Darren Currie took the Blues to a deserved 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle, one of his former clubs. With Tommy Miller substituted, Currie took responsibility from the spot and netted a second not long after. Mickey Evans pulled one back not long after Currie's second.

Town's 17-match home unbeaten run stretching back to April ended as West Ham went away from Portman Road with a 2-0 win. Keeper Kelvin Davis gifted the first in the opening minute, the second goal coming from Matthew Etherington in the final minute of normal time.

Town manager Joe Royle says he is considering making changes for one of Town's remaining Christmas period games. The Blues face West Ham at home on Boxing Day (KO 1pm) and Plymouth away on Monday.

Town cemented their position as league leaders at the turn of the year with a comfortable 1-0 win over Stoke City. The Blues deserved more than Shefki Kuqi's goal in the 34th minute, particularly from a very dominant first half display.

Town suffered their fourth defeat of the season as Millwall ran out 3-1 winners at the New Den. However, despite the loss, the Blues remain top, second-placed Wigan and third-placed Sunderland both losing at home.

An 89th minute Darren Bent goal gave the Blues a dramatic victory over Wigan and took them ahead of the Latics at the top of the league. After a goalless first half, a stupendous Leighton Baines 40-yarder put the visitors ahead but Richard Naylor and Bent gave the Blues the win they deserved.
